SAT Test Prep in Houston and Online
By Ibrahim C. Firat, MBA · IECA Professional Member and past Board President · Guiding students since 2008
Firat Education offers one on one SAT prep, in person in Houston and online anywhere, built around the digital SAT and the Firat SAT Score Map. The SAT is now fully digital and adaptive, and it rewards cognitive thinking skills as much as content. That is why our prep starts by finding exactly where a student is losing points, then targets only what moves the score. Deciding between the SAT and the ACT? Start with our SAT vs ACT comparison.
Our live evaluation of your student produces a unique Firat SAT Score Map that pinpoints exactly where the student is losing points, in both content and the cognitive thinking skills the SAT rewards, so tutoring targets only what moves the score.
We have tested it, and the result is simple: the same or a better score increase, in less time.

What the Firat SAT Score Map does
Most SAT prep reviews everything and hopes the score moves. The Firat SAT Score Map is different: it shows us where the points actually are, so every hour of tutoring is spent where it counts.
What is on the digital SAT in 2026
The SAT is taken on a computer in the College Board's Bluebook app and is section adaptive: how a student performs on the first module sets the difficulty of the second.
| Section | Format | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Reading and Writing | Two adaptive modules | Short passages with one question each; grammar, evidence, and expression of ideas |
| Math | Two adaptive modules | Algebra, advanced math, problem solving and data; calculator allowed throughout |
| Total | About 2 hours 14 minutes | 98 questions; scored 400 to 1600; no penalty for wrong answers |
Because the test is adaptive, a strong first module opens access to a higher score. The Score Map and our strategy work are built around that reality.
What we prepare your student for
Sessions blend targeted content review with strategy: how to open the harder second module, how to pace each section, how to read the SAT's short passages efficiently, and how superscoring across sittings can lift a final result.
How it works
- Start with the Firat Assessment and Roadmap. Goals, target colleges, baseline, and timeline. This is the required first step.
- Take the live evaluation. A live evaluation produces your Firat SAT Score Map, showing exactly which content and cognitive thinking skill gaps are costing points.
- Build the plan from the Score Map. We use your Score Map to build a targeted plan, tutoring and a testing calendar focused only on what moves the score, mapped to your target colleges and deadlines.
- Tutor and practice. One on one sessions plus full length digital practice under realistic conditions, in person or online.
- Confirm readiness. We track scores and confirm your student is ready before the official test date.
Pricing
Every engagement starts with the Firat Assessment and Roadmap, a one on one working session with Ibrahim that maps your student's baseline, target score, and timeline before any tutoring begins.
Your required first step and the plan the whole engagement runs on.
One on one test prep runs $180 to $220 per hour and includes unlimited full length practice tests and strategy meetings. Most plans run $3,000 to $9,000, starting from $1,760, depending on how far your student is from the goal and how much time there is. Because every plan is built from your diagnostic and goals, we quote the full scope after the Roadmap so you know it up front. Full details are on the pricing page.
Taking the ACT instead?
Not every student is an SAT student. The ACT is faster and more pattern based, and we prep for it differently. Compare the two on our SAT vs ACT page, or go straight to ACT test prep. Not sure which fits? The Roadmap runs a diagnostic on both and tells you.
Prefer a structured plan to work through on your own? Our Personalized Independent Study Plan is a written, test specific study guide.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Firat SAT Score Map?
It is our SAT evaluation that pinpoints exactly where a student is losing points, in both content and the cognitive thinking skills the SAT rewards, so tutoring targets only what moves the score. It comes from a live evaluation that follows your Firat Assessment and Roadmap.
How can Firat shorten SAT prep?
Because the Score Map targets only the gaps that move the score, students spend fewer hours on what will not help. In our testing this means fewer hours for the same or a better increase.
What changed with the digital SAT?
The SAT is now fully digital and adaptive, taken in the Bluebook app. It runs about 2 hours 14 minutes with 98 questions across Reading and Writing and Math, scored 400 to 1600, with no penalty for wrong answers.
What is a good SAT score?
It depends on your target colleges. We build the plan around the score ranges your specific schools expect and whether they superscore, so the goal is tied to real admissions, not a generic number.
Does Firat help with superscoring?
Yes. Many students test two or three times, and we plan the calendar so the strongest sections combine into the best possible superscore.
How early should we start?
Many students begin the summer before junior year or early in junior year so there is time for two or three sittings and a superscore. Earlier starts leave more room to adjust.
Do you tutor online or only in person?
Both. We work in person in Houston and online by Zoom nationwide, and plans can blend the two.
